Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information EquationDB collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, applications, APIs and related services (the "Service").
Information we collect
- Contact and trial requests: your name, work email, firm, role, the type of enquiry and your message, together with the IP address it was sent from.
- Account information: name, email, organization, role, hashed password and, if you enable it, two-factor authentication settings.
- Usage information: queries you run, saved queries, notes, alerts and other content you create; request logs including IP address, timestamps, browser type and error details; and usage counts for plan limits.
- Billing information: if you buy a paid plan, billing contact details and invoices. Card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us.
How we use it
- to provide, secure and support the Service, including authentication, rate limiting and fraud and abuse prevention;
- to reply to enquiries, set up trials and communicate about your account;
- to understand and improve how the Service is used, in aggregate;
- to meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your content to train general-purpose AI models.
Cookies and local storage
We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser's local storage keeps preferences such as light or dark theme, query tabs and panel positions on your device. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Service providers
We share personal information only with providers that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Cloud hosting for our servers and backups;
- AI model providers, when you use AI features: the question, query text and result rows needed to produce the answer are sent to the provider;
- Email delivery, for account and transactional emails;
- Internal messaging, to notify our team when a contact or trial request arrives;
- Payment processing, for paid plans.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
Retention
We keep account information and your content for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterwards so that you can export it, then delete or anonymize it. Contact requests are kept while we are in discussion with you and for a reasonable period afterwards. Logs are kept for security and troubleshooting for a limited period.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, customer data is isolated per organization, two-factor authentication is available, administrative actions are audited, and our servers are hardened and monitored for abuse.
International transfers
We and our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To make a request, contact us; we may need to verify your identity first. If your account is provided by your employer, some requests may need to go through them.
Children
The Service is for professional use and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make material changes we will notify account owners by email or in the app before they take effect.
